Paxton Lynch Compares Himself To Cam Newton

Paxton Lynch took part in the Memphis Pro Day on Thursday and impressed numerous scouts with his arm strength and living up to the potential first-round pick prediction. However, it was what Lynch said after his pro day that really has grabbed attention.

According to NJ.com’s Eliot Shorr-Parks, Lynch compared himself to NFL MVP, Cam Newton during his pro day.

Newton was the first overall pick of the Panthers in 2011 and has gone on to have a successful career that has included a league MVP and a trip to Super Bowl 50 this past season. To say the least he has become the franchise quarterback that the Panthers hoped he would.

Lynch and Newton are both big quarterbacks as they are taller than 6’5 and are more than 240 pounds. For the average quarterback that’s pretty big. Both quarterback also like to use their legs to extend and make plays.

It may have been a little surprising to hear Lynch compare his game to Newton, however, there are a lot of similarities between the two. It is also nice to see that Lynch has confidence in himself that he can be competitive and succeed in the NFL.

Lynch is said to be the more raw of the top quarterbacks as he played in a small conference in Memphis and didnt play against top competition. However, it is because of that he could drop down to the Rams are the 15th overall pick, if that is the case and Lynch does compare himself to Newton, the Rams could get a steal.

The Rams need a quarterback in the upcoming draft and given where they sit in the draft, Lynch could be in consideration for a player that the Rams take.
