The Los Angeles Rams made a blockbuster move on Thursday trading all the way up from the 15th overall pick to the first overall pick originally held by the Tennessee Titans. The team presumably has moved up this far in order to take a quarterback, but which one is still the question.

There have been conflicting reports, this time of year there are always smoke screens, but looking at the reports closer, it looks like the Rams may have already made their decision.

First let’s start with Walter Football. Pat Yasinkas said,

"” On a frigid January day in Mobile, Ala., I ran into someone who works for the Los Angeles Rams.He had two jobs at the Senior Bowl practice. One was to stay warm. The other was to scout the quarterbacks. The second job was far easier than the first.I have a long-standing relationship with this person, and we sat and watched the practices together. He spoke off the record and openly. By the end of the week, it was more than obvious he thought North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz was the best of the bunch. From what he told me, the rest of the Rams’ brain trust felt the same way, and the Rams needed a quarterback. There was one problem, however. The Rams weren’t scheduled to pick until No. 15 overall. By any estimation, Wentz would be long gone. My Rams source said the team would love to swing a trade into the top five to get Wentz but didn’t think there was any way they could swing it. The price tag simply would be too much. ”Not a lot changed between January and Thursday morning. The Rams continued their homework on Wentz and grew even more enamored with him. But that price tag still looked prohibitive.Until Thursday morning. That’s when the world woke up to a surprise. The Rams had pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Titans for the No. 1 pick. The price tag was very steep. The Rams got the No. 1 pick along with fourth- and sixth-rounders in this year’s draft. “"

At the combine and sitting where the Rams were, there would be no need for a smoke screen at this point in time. The Rams were clearly enamored with Wentz as Yasinkas said and as Les Snead confirmed in his press conference, they have been discussing moving up to the number one pick since the combine which is when this story took place.

Second, let’s look at Benjamin Allbright who has been right several times when it comes to the Rams organization. He was right with the Nick Foles trade and he was right about the team moving. He has his sources in the organization.

Once again Allbright says discussions had been going on awhile or since the combine as we’ve learned. It’s only a hunch, but given his track record, Id say it’s pretty safe to believe what Allbright has to say when it comes to the Rams.

Now looking at the others:

Fred Roggin is a big guy in the media in LA as is Sam Farmer. While both are new to the team, given their names, especially Farmer’s, Id say its pretty safe to believe what they have to say. Shelley Smith an ESPN reporter is also pretty reliable especially if she interviewed Fisher directly.

Now let’s look at the Goff reports.

While Adam Schefter, Mike Silver, and Matt Miller are all big names in the media, let’s take a look here. Looking at the Wentz reports there were at least stories to go with those and people who have close ties within the team.

If a team was going to pull of a smoke screen, Schefter would be the guy to leak it to. He’s the guy everybody is going to believe to make other teams think you are leaning a certain way. Matt Miller from Bleacher Report…how much can he really know? Mike Silver also a big name like Schefter who has actually been in the Rams war room during the draft and might as well work with the team. If it’s one guy who could be fooled, it’s Silver.

At the end of the day, nobody knows who the Rams are going to take, but at least right now, the Rams look to be leaning toward Wentz. He is the guy right now. They do have two weeks to think about it, but if the Rams didnt absolutely love one guy, they wouldnt have moved up to the number one overall pick to debate between two. The Rams know who they’re going to take and they’ve known for awhile, probably since the combine.
