3 Reasons Kirk Cousins to the Los Angeles Rams Could Happen in 2018
By Dan Parzych
Reunion With Sean McVay
Over the last two seasons, Kirk Cousins has emerged as one of the league’s top quarterbacks after throwing for 9,083 yards to go along with 54 touchdowns in 32 games. Coincidentally, Cousins has found plenty of success over the last two seasons working with Sean McVay as his offensive coordinator, which shows how dangerous the duo can be together.
Only time will tell when it comes to how successful Cousins will be with Matt Cavanaugh as the new offensive coordinator for the Redskins, but chances are he’s not going to have the same type of impact as McVay. Nothing against Cavanaugh, but there’s a reason why Los Angeles was willing to take a chance on making McVay the youngest head coach in NFL history when looking at the potential he brings to the table to help turn around a team that ranked last in 2016 by averaging just 14 points per game.
If Washington does end up hitting Cousins with the franchise tag for the second year in a row, it will be interesting to see how he performs during his first year as a starter without McVay. For all Cousins knows, McVay may be the key to the quarterback’s success, depending on how this year pans out.
