With the start of free agency right around the corner, Bryan Walters should be a name to keep an eye on for the Los Angeles Rams.

There are plenty of talks about top free agents signing with NFL teams at the wide receiver position, and when it comes to the Los Angeles Rams, the possibility of signing players like DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, or Alshon Jeffery would be a dream come true. The wide receiver corps were awful on so many levels last season for the Rams with too many dropped passes and lack of effort getting open.

As amazing as Los Angeles acquiring one if not two of the best wideouts in this year’s free agency class would be, chances are that still won’t be enough to get Jared Goff and the Rams’ offense over the hump during the 2017 season. History has showed us that teams like the New England Patriots can find plenty of success at wide receiver with the perfect player in the right system and when it comes to Los Angeles, one free agent that is a bit under the radar the team should look into is Bryan Walters.

Walters is a steady, possession receiver that played exceptionally well in his role for the Jacksonville Jaguars as a third, fourth, and fifth option. In his two seasons with the team, Walters caught a respectable 32 and 24 receptions on a team that suffered various injuries from three of their top wideouts and erratic play from Blake Bortles. Not to mention his biggest impact came on third downs and Walters has the ability to be effective on special teams.

Walters can definitely shore up the end of the wide receiving group by having a sure-handed catcher that can help Goff in catching the ball over the middle and getting outside the sticks. In addition, Walters could serve as an emergency punt returner in case of injury or poor play from Tavon Austin, and could be signed at a reasonably, low cost.

He may not be the most attractive free agent to go after in a few weeks, but Walters is certainly a name to keep an eye on as a possible under the radar addition to improve a receiving corps that ranked near the bottom of the league in 2016.
