Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay leaves no doubt that tight end will be a critical position in his LA offense.

Los Angeles Rams fans who had receivers Zay Jones or JuJu Smith-Schuster with pick 37 swung and missed. Instead, LA traded down with the Buffalo Bills and selected at the 44th spot, and Sean McVay added to a position he liked while in Washington: tight end.

Gerald Everett comes from South Alabama where he caught 90 passes for 1,292 yards in his final two season with the Jaguars. Along with second year tight end Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles is looking to solidify a position in the Rams offense that will pay significant dividends for the team and second year quarterback Jared Goff in 2017.

Everett weighs in at 239 lbs and is 6’-3”. Look for him in the H-back/slot position in the Rams offense this season.

McVay will get a lot out of both Higbee and Everett, as he did in Washington while offensive coordinator with the Redskins. Even more important, is how the addition of another tight end will begin to shape what the Rams do on offense and how it can impact Goff as he continues to develop as and NFL quarterback.

As for where Los Angeles goes from here, McVay is serving notice that not only is the Fisher era dead and buried, but so is a remarkably inept offensive game plan.
