The Los Angeles Rams received high praise for this awesome logo in a recent ranking done by one writer on FanSided.

From a talent perspective, the Los Angeles Rams rank near the bottom of the league at the moment, and rightfully so after the offense finished dead last in 2016 by only averaging 14 points per game. But on a positive note, at least nothing can takeaway from the Rams having one of the coolest team logos in the league.

In a recent ranking of team logos courtesy of Colton Wesley from our friends over at Detroit Jock City, Los Angeles actually finished high on the list at No. 5, which may come as a surprise to some fans. However, as Wesley discussed in his ranking, the Rams have an amazing backstory on how the logo came to be.

Here’s what Wesley had to say about the Rams’ logo:

"In 1948, Cleveland Rams’ halfback and future Denver Broncos’ general manager Fred Gehrke painted rams’ horns on the team’s helmets, making the Rams the first team to have a design on their helmets. The horns stuck to Rams’ helmets from Cleveland to Los Angeles to St. Louis and back to Los Angeles. That is perhaps the best origin story of any NFL helmet logo and enough reason on its own to put the Rams’ logo high on this list. The actual logo includes those large horns on the head of an angry charging ram, which looks really cool. It’s a clean, simple design that indicates motion and power."

Isn’t it amazing how the popular horns on the Rams’ helmets have managed to stick around after all of these years, even in different cities? Last year marked the first season for the team back in Los Angeles, and hopefully it’s only a matter of time before they become serious contenders in the NFC once again.

The Rams made a bold move during the offseason by hiring Sean McVay as the youngest head coach in NFL history, and have high expectations for his new offense with Jared Goff at quarterback, assuming he doesn’t lose the job to Sean Mannion. For now, at least Los Angeles can enjoy the satisfaction of winning when it comes to having one of the top team logos on this recent ranking.
