Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff and head coach Sean McVay are showing that things in LA are very fluid this offseason.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff continues to improve as outlets like ESPN reports, and head coach Sean McVay continues to keep a safe distance by saying all the “smart” things.

So who’s right this early June 2017?
Both, most likely.
We’d all hope that Goff is getting better, since the idea of him digressing is almost inconceivable. As for McVay, he’s keeping the gray matter in his statements non-committal, which is very wise. After all, he has zero need to commit to anyone in the heat of June when so much is still yet to happen.
But you can’t get away from the hope that it all works out for Goff. I mean, when he completes a garden variety pass during OTA’s, it’s news. That’s right, completing a pass in LA is newsworthy.

How low is THAT bar?
Something he has to realize is that loyalty to his future in Los Angeles will begin and end with his won/loss record. Goff will have to learn that it’s less about him and more about a coach keeping his job.
Especially a first year head coach who has no history or ties to him.

McVay knows that, Goff will very soon.
The second year quarterback won’t be insulated from a long time coaching staff. If anything, he’ll likely be graded week to week, and if it looks shaky, half to half. Expect a very short leash this fall in LA.
Like, very short.
In the meantime, we’ll continue to get two narratives from the Rams: Goff is improving, McVay keeps his options open.
Welcome to the new normal of NFL football, LA style.
