Rams could receive big break in Week 1 if Andrew Luck doesn’t play
With the probability high that Andrew Luck is out Week 1 for the Indianapolis Colts, the Los Angeles Rams might have the break they need to start the Sean McVay era the right way
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has not committed to returning for the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams. This is great news as Sean McVay looks to receive his first win as a head coach.

By not having Luck in the lineup, the Colts would have to settle for backup Scott Tolzien. Many consider Luck as “generational talent” in which Indianapolis should be in disarray without him, and the team is smart enough to not risk his health over one game.
Even if Luck is out of the picture for opening weekend, at least the Colts should be able to get by with their current group of receivers. According to Pro Football Focus, the Indianapolis receiving corps was rated 11th, and that was even before losing starting tight end Dwayne Allen. However, the fact that T.Y. Hilton led the league in receiving yards last year, and should not be taken lightly heading into this season.
Without Luck’s talent to put the Colts in a game-winning situation, the Rams should be able to bulldoze them right over. With an offense that should be in some disarray along with a defense whose front seven is rated dead last, Los Angeles’ offense should have time during the game to workout the kinks of McVay’s system. This will allow Jared Goff to progress while facing minimal pressure all game, while also allowing Todd Gurley to hopefully return to his 2015 form in style.

Hopefully, this game will be the first of many victories under the McVay era for Los Angeles, and facing Indianapolis without Luck could be the perfect break to start the season off on the right track. However, if the Rams squander this opportunity, something will need to change as the season could end up being a very bleak one.
