Los Angeles Rams running back Lance Dunbar started training camp on the PUP list due to a knee injury.

During the offseason, the Los Angeles Rams were smart to only give Lance Dunbar a one-year deal with the intention of the signing hopefully being a low risk with a high reward to be a reliable third-down running back for the offense. When fully healthy, Dunbar has been considered a duel threat thanks to his ability to catch those quick passes, but unfortunately his previous two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys haven’t gone according to plan, which was one of the reasons why he joined the Rams in free agency.

Back in 2015, Dunbar suffered a devastating knee injury that limited him to playing in just four games for the Cowboys, and even last season, it was tough for the running back to find carries due to Ezekiel Elliott and Alfred Morris. A fresh start with a new team like Los Angeles was clearly the best option for Dunbar, but after starting off training camp on the PUP list over a knee injury, it’s hard not to wonder if the team should be concerned over one of their newest additions to the backfield.

Seeing the Rams keep quiet over the details of Dunbar’s injury makes this whole situation even more interesting when considering his history was one of the main concerns back in March when he came on board, but at least Sean McVay has other options to work with. In fact, the new Los Angeles head coach recently praised Malcolm Brown for establishing himself as the No. 2 running back behind Todd Gurley.

Hopefully, this knee injury to Dunbar turns out to only be minor, and Los Angeles simply made the decision to put him on the PUP list for safety precautions. But if not, at least the Rams will still be in good shape at running back thanks to Gurley and Brown.
