Rams COO Kevin Demoff getting it right in year two
By Steve Rivera
Los Angeles Rams COO Kevin Demoff is saying all the right things in 2017.
Los Angeles Rams COO Kevin Demoff is sounding like an executive who’s had time to think. As someone who criticized him for things said in 2016, I need to be willing to credit him for saying the right things in 2017.

Demoff and the Rams were at the very least, tone deaf in their first year back in LA. From uniforms, to ill-timed contract extensions, and a hasty exit from St. Louis, this organization should be a semester in business school about how to work hard at failing. 2016 was quicksand in Los Angeles, whereas this season looks to be an organization on something more resembling solid ground.
In a piece by Alden Gonzalez at ESPN, the Rams executive speaks about 2017:
"“I think it’s definitely a retool, maybe changing the culture, reprioritizing some of the processes and and how we do things, to maximize what we have, and to build in some players that can help build that transformation,” Demoff said."
It’s not a hard message to sell. The Rams are facing a day to day where they aren’t the only ballgame in town.
Between USC and UCLA, you also have a city rival in the Chargers that isn’t part of the NFC West, but will be competing for the hearts and minds of the Los Angeles market.
They can’t afford to stumble as they had in St. Louis, and as they did last season. LA may be a laid back market from all appearances, but they’ll find little time to waste on a team unable to get it together and compete come Sunday afternoons.
The good news is they do appear to be getting it together. This organization continues on the road back to respectability. There is no crime in that, unless they were to continue to ignore what they clearly missed last season.
Sean McVay and Jared Goff are to be the two most expected to do the heavy lifting on that road back. It’s a tall task for them, but given where they have been, the adage “nowhere to go but up,” is fitting for this Rams team.

Demoff is optimistic and should be.
“Nowhere to go but up,” is a good place to shoot for.
