Former Baylor wideout KD Cannon signed with the Los Angeles Rams on Friday, making them his third team since being drafted.

Back in April, the Los Angeles Rams expressed interest in former Baylor star KD Cannon after setting up a private workout with the wideout, but the team would end up passing on him once the 2017 NFL Draft officially got underway. As fate would have it, Cannon ended up signing with the Rams on Friday to add another young wideout to the roster, which brings up the discussion of whether he has a chance to earn one of those 53 spots for the regular season.

Believe it or not, Los Angeles will be Cannon’s third team in such a short period of time (joined the New York Jets after going undrafted and was briefly a member of the San Francisco 49ers), and if all goes well, the Rams will hopefully be the final stop for the wideout. If Cannon’s career with the Bears is any indication of what to expect, the rookie may be able to provide the Rams with a surprise young weapon for Jared Goff to work with in the passing game.

During his final season at Baylor, Cannon was able to haul in 87 catches for 1,215 yards to go along with 13 trips into the end zone, making it easy to see why he was considered one of the most underrated receivers from this year’s draft class. Even as a freshman, Cannon found a way to make an immediate impact by finishing the year with 1,030 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

But despite how impressive these numbers look for someone like Cannon, Los Angeles is already filled with plenty of young talent at receiver who will be fighting for one of those roster spots just like him. In other words, the Rams may have been thrilled to find Cannon available following his short stints with the Jets and 49ers, but that doesn’t mean anything is guaranteed for the rookie, and it will be fun to see how he performs moving forward during training camp.
