Rams don’t need to worry about being most popular team in LA, just the one that wins
By Steve Rivera
The Los Angeles Rams may not be the most popular team in the city, but winning can change that idea pretty quickly.
Los Angeles Rams, Oakland Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, and oh yeah, the Los Angeles Chargers. The debate regarding who is most popular in LA can border on the absurd. Since preseason began, both the Cowboys and the Raiders have staked some claim to fans in the city.

As for the Chargers, that jury will be out for a long while.
But does it matter?
Pick a city, NFL or otherwise, and the Cowboys rate high. So do the Raiders to a lesser degree. But in LA, if the Rams win, and can become a team who makes the playoffs, challenges for the NFC West, and who knows, contend for a Super Bowl, the popularity of any of those other teams in Southern California won’t matter much.
Right now, the Trojans of Southern California are probably the most popular AND most talked about.
They also win, have a leading Heisman Trophy contender, and a player who may be the top overall draft pick next spring’s NFL Draft at quarterback.
The Rams have a second year QB who can ACTUALLY claim to be a number #1 overall draft pick. If he can start leading this team to wins, lead them to a record at or beyond .500, the fortunes for Los Angeles begin to change, as does how popular they can be.
A quick glimpse of their roster is another reason for fans to be optimistic about what “might be.”
With Sean McVay, Cooper Kupp, Todd Gurley, Aaron Donald, Sammy Watkins, Johnny Hekker, Josh Reynolds, and Goff, the future for these stars are bright in Los Angeles. If they can start winning, the foundation of this Rams team is as bright as anything USC, UCLA, or the Chargers can put on the field.
That’s how it works in LA. It’s a city driven by stars, and the Rams roster has huge potential for just that.

So yeah, the Cowboys, Raiders, and Trojans might rate higher than the Rams today, but McVay might have this team finally trending up.
In Los Angeles, that’s a good place to be.
