What was thought to be a close game was not, or ever close at all, as LA beat the Cardinals 33-0. For anyone who thought, myself included, that perhaps we’d seen a rejuvenated Cardinals with recently acquired Adrian Peterson, we didn’t.
Instead, we saw a stalled out Arizona offense, sans quarterback Carson Palmer for the better part of the game, as an injury to his left arm effectively shut him down for the London evening.
The Rams however were a very different story, as Los Angeles quarterback Jared Goff had a solid day, going 22 of 37, for 235 yards, one touchdown through the air to Cooper Kupp, and one rushing TD. He’d also toss one interception.
The showdown between two of the league’s best runners didn’t materialize either, as Peterson was bottled up from the beginning, rushing for only 21 yards on 11 carries. A far cry from his explosion in Arizona last week against Tampa.
But it was another solid day for Rams running back Todd Gurley, who continues to put a disappointing 2016 behind him. Gurley would carry the ball 22 times for 106 yards and a touchdown, adding to a strong showing for the Los Angeles offense.
Receiver Robert Woods would also have a solid day for the Rams, catching five passes for 59 yards. Kupp would add four receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown, while Sammy Watkins was targeted five times, catching three passes for 42 yards.
The Los Angeles defense would stifle the Cardinals offense all day, limiting them to 193 yards of offense for the game.
