Rams McVay saving jobs and careers in LA
By Steve Rivera
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is responsible for the Herculean task of turning around a 4-12 team. He may also deserve credit for saving one job and a career as well.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is the guy being credited with the turnaround of second year quarterback Jared Goff, and he rightfully should be. But in addition to Goff, history may show he’s saved a few jobs within the organization as well.

And probably the Rams being back in Los Angeles.
Should I pump the brakes now?
Let’s play out the balance of the regular season today and say for the sake of this argument, that the Rams finish at 8-8 and miss the playoffs. Even the most cynical of people, me included, would be correct to say that 2017 was a resounding success.
I mean, after the smoldering wreckage that was the 2016 edition under Jeff Fisher, this version of .500 would be significant and promising.
As dire as things looked immediately after this past New Year’s Day, is it reasonable to give credit to McVay for saving the job of General Manager Les Snead also?
We already know, or at least can see, that the first year head coach has constructed an offensive game plan that has allowed Goff to shed the “bust” label.

At least through seven games.
But to truly appreciate why Snead should spend a ton of money on a Christmas present for his head coach, simply look at the Rams last seven losses of last season, and the first overall draft pick they deployed in those games.
Remember?
When the media and fans begin the process of exhaling and breaking down the 2017 Los Angeles Rams, it’ll be hard to ignore how much better this team is, and how the GM who engineered what looked to be a questionable trade, to bring a potentially bad pick to LA, was saved probably from himself.
That pick seems to be working out OK, and Snead will likely keep a job.
Credit McVay with that to.
