Thanks to his big performance against the New York Giants, Jared Goff took home  NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors in Week 9 for the Los Angeles Rams.

Between moving back into first place in the NFC West to blowing out the New York Giants, the Los Angeles Rams have plenty of reasons to be feeling good after Week 9, as Sean McVay‘s squad has a 6-2 record at the moment. One of the main reasons why the Rams were able to come through with the 51-17 win over the Giants was due to another solid performance by Jared Goff on offense, and believe it or not, the Rams quarterback’s play helped him earn some much deserved honors as well.

After setting career highs of 311 yards to go along with four touchdowns on 14 of 22 passing, Goff was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 9, according to the team site. Everybody knew that Goff was in the running to take home the award, but also many wondered if Carson Wentz of the Philadelphia Eagles (199 passing yards with four touchdowns) would sneak away with the honors after a stellar performance of his own against a much more challenging team in the Denver Broncos.

Between Goff and Todd Gurley (Week 4 winner), Los Angeles is earning quite the awards when it comes to being named Offensive Player of the Week in the NFC, and with eight games to go, fans certainly wouldn’t be made if either of these two managed to win a few more times. Expectations were high for the Rams’ offense when McVay came on board as the youngest head coach in NFL history in the offseason, but nobody could have predicted the unit to be this good on a weekly basis.

Up next, Los Angeles will be back home in Week 10 with a key matchup against the struggling Houston Texans, who are still trying to adjust to life without Deshaun Watson (torn ACL) on offense. Not to mention, the Texans’ defense has been dealing with plenty of injuries to numerous key players, so it will be interesting to see if Goff will take full advantage with the potential to display a similar performance to the one seen last weekend against the Giants.
