In his first year as head coach, Sean McVay has given the Los Angeles Rams plenty of reasons to be thankful.

Back in the offseason, the Los Angeles Rams were taking a huge risk by making Sean McVay the youngest head coach in NFL history when looking at some of the other candidates worth considering that seemed less risky. But when looking at how much of an impact the former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator has made in his first season with the Rams currently sitting at 7-3, it’s easy to say the team made the right choice when it comes to making McVay the head coach.

After five years of Jeff Fisher getting this offense nowhere, McVay took over knowing he had plenty of work on his plate when it comes to turning this team around, and cards on the table, everyone expected Los Angeles to be experiencing some growing pains for at least a year or two. Instead, McVay wasted no time making the Rams serious contenders in the NFC thanks to their offense ranking near the top of the league when it comes to points per game thanks to Jared Goff elevating his game to a whole new level in just his second season.

In a way, Goff received some unfortunate criticism as a rookie last year for his inability to be productive on offense since Los Angeles didn’t really do the best of jobs when it comes to providing their quarterback with the necessary weapons to succeed. After McVay and company spent the offseason focusing on improving both the offensive line and receiving corps, Goff has looked like a MVP at times for this offense, and appears to have a bright future working with his beloved head coach in this offense.

And when looking at how much success he’s managed to have with this team over the first 10 games of his head coaching career, McVay deserves high consideration for what the Rams are most thankful for in 2017.
