While the Los Angeles Rams organization has benefited as a whole by hiring McVay, the one player who should give him a cut of his first big deal after his rookie contract is quarterback Jared Goff.

The third year QB was a dismal 0-7 after the completion of his rookie season. That quickly turned around with the arrival of McVay. In 2018, Goff entered the season with a .500 record and legitimate questions as to what he would bring to the table this year.

He hasn’t disappointed. While he’s had games where his name hasn’t jumped off the stat sheet, he’s been a steady figure on the field. However, the product that is Goff exploded with a monster performance in Week 11 when the much hyped Monday night showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs titled in the Rams favor as he threw them to a 54-51 win.

His 31 completions on 49 attempts for 413 yards and four touchdowns solidified him as the franchise type of quarterback Los Angeles had hoped for when he was selected with the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. It also lifted his profile to one of the quarterbacks in the discussion for league MVP. While the sentimental favorite is Brees, Goff finds himself in the mix with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger.

The growth seen in Goff along with a 10-1, record is a prime reason the COY award should stay in Los Angeles with McVay.
