1. Clayton Geathers

Last offseason when the Rams used the franchise tag on Joyner, the original plan seemed to be the safety would eventually earn a new deal from the organization as a result of the 2017 season.

While there were times in which Joyner looked great on defense, he simply wasn’t worth all of that money Los Angeles was paying him as a result of the franchise tag.

As a result, some believe the Rams will move on from Joyner this offseason by allowing him to test the open market in free agency, which is part of the reason why safety is one of their needs to fill.

Does this mean Clayton Geathers could be the answer Los Angeles is looking for? With all due respect to the former fourth-round pick, all of the injuries he’s dealt with over the last couple of years are concerning, but also his toughness deserves recognition.

When healthy, Geathers has proven to be effective on the defensive side of the football, and after coming off what was arguably his best season in 2018, there will be plenty of teams expressing interest if the Colts decide it’s time to move on.

Since the Rams could use some help at safety, Geathers could be another one of those underrated moves worth considering to put them in better position to live up to the hype in 2019 once again.
