During a recent interview, C.J. Anderson hinted that Todd Gurley’s knee injury was worse than expected when veteran signed with the Los Angeles Rams.

By now, one would think the Los Angeles Rams would have been able to provide fans with some sort of better explanation over what took place towards the end of the postseason in regards to Todd Gurley.

Towards the end of the regular season, the Rams signed veteran running back C.J. Anderson to allow Gurley to rest the final two games while he dealt with what seemed like a minor knee injury, which ended up working out great for Los Angeles.

Not only did Anderson break 100+ rushing yards in each of those two games, but the Rams went on to defeat both the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers to secure the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff picture.

In other words, Los Angeles locking up a first-round bye would allow Gurley to receive even more rest before his return against the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional Round, and all of a sudden gave the Rams a new dynamic duo at the running back position.

Everything seemed great for the Rams on offense after that playoff win over the Cowboys since both running backs managed to break the 100-yard rushing mark in the contest, but unfortunately things would go downhill from there for Gurley.

While it was clear something was up with Gurley after the Pro Bowler was limited to just four carries for 10 yards with a touchdown in the NFC Championship game against the New Orleans Saints, but it was even more frustrating to see him receive only 10 carries in the Super Bowl.

To top it all off, Los Angeles continued to make the claim that Gurley was completely fine, and wasn’t dealing with any sort of injury, making this entire situation even more frustrating to deal with.

If Gurley wasn’t healthy, why weren’t the Rams feeding him the football as much as possible in arguably the two biggest games of his football career?

Any running back with a workhorse mentality like Gurley should easily see anywhere from 20-30 carries in a meaningful game like the Super Bowl, so until fans actually receive some sort of answers that make sense, the frustration is only going to continue.

With that being said, Anderson joined the folks on FS1’s Undisputed on Tuesday, and made some interesting comments in regards to Gurley’s knee injury by basically clarifying what fans assumed all along in the situation being worse than originally expected.

Just hearing Anderson discuss how he knew from the beginning that Gurley’s injury was worse on top of the fact that Gurley seemed to be keeping it a mystery himself shows just how much of a mess this situation has become.

From Gurley’s perspective, football fans will always respect a player who is willing to battle through injuries to play, but watching the results of the NFC Championship and Super Bowl show that maybe he shouldn’t have been playing at all.
