2. Preston Smith

At this point in the offseason, early signs point to the Redskins moving on from Preston Smith after spending the last four seasons with the team. Sometimes in the NFL, all good things must come to an end, and despite appearing in every game for Washington dating back to 2015, it looks like Washington is preparing to find a potential replacement.

Luckily for Smith if this does happen to be the case, there should be a handful of teams willing to give him a chance to provide some boost to their defense, one of which will hopefully be the Rams.

As previously mentioned, the linebacker position has been an area with questions for Los Angeles dating back to last season, and if the defense ends up losing Dante Fowler Jr. to free agency, it’s going to become a need even more.

What exactly could Smith bring to the table for a Super Bowl caliber team like the Rams? Right away, the 24.5 sacks recorded by Smith over the last four season, including two years consisting of eight, make the linebacker an attractive free agency target to help Los Angeles on the defensive side of the football to help the unit even more dangerous to deal with.
