3. Earl Mitchell

Right away, the one concern that will be pointed out in regards to Earl Mitchell is how the veteran defensive tackle will be 32 by the end of September next season, meaning a team like the Rams would probably benefit from going with a younger approach.

However, if there were anything to take away from a team like Los Angeles from last year, it would be this team is willing to consider all options if they believe a player can help put them in a great position to make a run at the Super Bowl.

After spending the last two years in San Francisco, the team decided in January to void the final two years of Mitchell’s contract to allow him to hit the free agency market to look for certain teams in need of a boost on the defensive side of the football.

At this stage in his career, Mitchell seems like the kind of player who would prefer to join a serious contender since it’s difficult to tell how many more effective years he has left in him.

A player with a career high of two sacks may not seem as exciting as other options in free agency, but if the Rams can get a fair price for Mitchell to go along with the extra motivation he would play with knowing the 49ers are on the schedule twice for 2019, it could be worth it.
