3 reasons Andrew Whitworth returning is huge win for Los Angeles Rams

3. Goff will continue to receive proper protection
As mentioned before, the fact that Whitworth was willing to join a team like the Rams when they were originally expected to go through a year or two of rebuilding under McVay shows how confident he was in this team having what it takes to be a contender.

Shortly after McVay came on board, the head coach understood the importance of making sure Jared Goff would have an improved offensive line to work with after the 0-7 record and brutal hits he took as a rookie in 2016.
Two years later, Goff is fortunate enough to have one of the league’s most consistent offensive lines, and Todd Gurley certainly has benefitted from the unit as well after watching both players continue to elevate their games to new levels.
Whitworth isn’t going to be around as long as Goff and Gurley for obvious reasons, but at least the veteran will get one more year of action with his teammates.
While numerous factors have come into play in helping the Rams put together one of the league’s top offenses over the last two seasons, Whitworth’s presence alone certainly deserves to sit near the top of that list since Los Angeles doesn’t even want to imagine the last two years without him.
