2. Richardson was a former first rounder for a reason

Back in 2012, there was plenty of excitement surrounding Richardson following a stellar career at Alabama, and after one season with the Cleveland Browns after they took the running back with the third overall pick, he seemed to be on his way living up to the hype.

In fact, there was so much excitement surrounding Richardson becoming one of the league’s next top running backs that the Indianapolis Colts were willing to give up a future first-round pick the following year in order to boost their ground game.

Instead, Richardson would turn out to be a complete bust for the Colts over the next two seasons by only rushing for 977 yards with six touchdowns in 29 games he appeared in, which is part of the reason why Indianapolis would waive him in 2015.

Rightfully so, Indianapolis had every reason in the world to be frustrated over Richardson’s lack of production during those two seasons, but this recent stint in the AAF shows there maybe is some hope in turning things around.

Keep in mind that Richardson was a first-round pick all the way back in 2012, and just because things didn’t work out for the best the first time around in the NFL doesn’t mean the door to turn things around should be closed.
