Round 7, Pick 251: Ryquell Armstead, RB, Temple

Only time will tell when it comes to determining whether the Rams regret moving on from C.J. Anderson, and go with Malcolm Brown instead as the No. 2 running back in 2019, but also don’t be surprised if Los Angeles takes another running back in the draft as insurance.

Unfortunately, Gurley’s knee has put the Rams in a difficult position heading into the 2019 season since they can no longer take their usual approach of allowing their star running back to be a workhorse in the backfield.

Even if the Rams can always give John Kelly an increased workload after bringing the former Tennessee star on board during last year’s draft, adding another talented running back like Ryquell Armstead certainly can’t hurt this late with their final pick.

If anything, some extra competition with a rookie like Armstead could potentially motivate Brown or Kelly to elevate their games to new levels.

But most importantly, Armstead is the perfect downhill kind of runner that could benefit the Rams during the 2019 season with their new concerns at running back.

Armstead certainly wouldn’t fix all of the concerns Los Angeles is currently dealing with, but he could turn out to be better than originally expected.
