3 reasons Darrell Henderson could be surprise 1,000-yard rusher for Rams in 2019

3. Numbers from Memphis
As mentioned before, the selection of Henderson was one of the surprise moves by the Rams during the draft since the argument can be made that running back wasn’t a top need, although it doesn’t hurt to have insurance with some of the uncertainty surrounding Gurley.

Without question, Henderson is one of those running backs who could certainly bring a lot to the table right away during his rookie campaign, but what kind of numbers he produces could be determined by what kind of workload Los Angeles gives him.
Obviously, Gurley is going to receive most of the carries on offense if he’s healthy enough to handle the duties since there’s a reason why the former Georgia star is considered one of the top running backs in the league.
However, Henderson’s final season at Memphis alone in which he rushed for 1,909 yards and 22 touchdowns is just one of many examples behind why it would be wise for the Rams to make sure their rookie running back gets involved as much as possible.
The Rams have already made it clear they’re going to take a different approach with Gurley in the backfield when compared to his workload from the last few seasons to avoid making his knee situation any worse.
Assuming this turns out to be the case, the carries seem like they will be there for Henderson on a consistent basis, and could result in a big rookie campaign, which the Rams obviously would love to see.
