2. Joe Looney

Words can’t even described how devastating it was for the Cowboys to play all of last season without Travis Frederick due to illness since there’s a reason why he’s considered to be one of the top centers in the NFL.

Over the years, the offensive line has become a major strength for Dallas, and there’s no question this never would have been able to happen without Frederick’s presence, which is why the Cowboys are thrilled to see him on pace to be ready to go for Week 1.

With that being said, the return of Frederick also means that Joe Looney, who filled in last year by starting all 16 games for Dallas, will return to the backup role at center, meaning the Cowboys can afford to trade him if needed.

As confident as the Rams feel in Brian Allen stepping up in 2019 now that John Sullivan is no longer part of the picture, it never hurts to have extra depth at the center position just in case, especially after Looney stepped up big time last year for the Cowboys.

Then again, Dallas could also feel the need to keep Looney around as insurance for Frederick since it’s always better to be safe than sorry in this industry, although at least they’re in better shape after selecting Penn State’s Connor McGovern in the draft.
