3. Patrick Onwuasor

Expectations are high for Patrick Onwuasor heading into his fourth season with the Ravens now that C.J. Mosley, who signed with the New York Jets this offseason, is no longer part of the picture on defense.

However, Baltimore did make a late addition in free agency by making the decision to sign Shane Ray to make the competition a little more interesting on the defensive side of the football for the Ravens, especially when it comes to Onwuasor.

While the Ravens are still expected to give Onwuasor as much playing time as possible since the linebacker has started 25 games over the last two seasons, the presence of Ray does put them in a much better position at linebacker.

After turning out to be a steal from 2016 by signing as an undrafted free agent, Baltimore recently placed a second-round restricted free agent tender on Onwuasor back in March.

Sooner or later, the Ravens realize that Onwuasor could be asking for a major pay raise, and if they don’t want to open up their checkbook, a trade could be an easier way out, that is unless the team does in fact want to pay him a heftier contract when the time comes.
