1. Tyler Eifert
It’s difficult not to feel bad for Tyler Eifert when looking at all of the injuries the tight end has been dealing with, and it’s safe to assume that he’s missed out on a ton of extra money as well.
The fact that Eifert has been limited to playing in just 14 games over the last three seasons shows how tough things have been at times, yet the Bengals continue to keep him around, most likely because of how effective he’s proven to be when healthy.
During a Pro Bowl year in 2015 when Eifert found the end zone 13 times, Cincinnati seemed to have the league’s next best pass-catching tight ends on their hands before an ankle injury in the meaningless game would end up changing everything.
Since the injury, Eifert just hasn’t been the same kind of tight end, and while the Bengals had nothing to lose bringing him back on a one-year deal for 2019, they know there is no long-term commitment.
McVay does have a history of working well with tight ends, and if the Rams were to express interest in Eifert, one can only imagine how much a move like this could boost the offense.
Even if Los Angeles would need to move on from one of their current tight ends, with Tyler Higbee immediately coming to mind, Eifert makes it seem like it would be well worth the consideration.
