2. Brandon Allen

Since Blake Bortles is the clear No. 2 quarterback behind Jared Goff, one of the more underrated battles at the position over the last couple of weeks took place between Brandon Allen and John Wolford.

From an experience perspective, Allen seemed to have a slight edge over earning the No. 3 spot over Wolford entering the preseason, but this is the perfect example of how quickly things can change.

Unfortunately for Allen, the quarterback didn’t exactly make strong case for himself during Thursday’s preseason finale against the Denver Broncos after throwing two interceptions on 12 of 17 passing for 120 yards.

As for Allen’s competition, well let’s just say Wolford displayed plenty of signs for being a reliable quarterback of the future after completing 8 of 15 passes for 105 yards to go along with two touchdowns.

Based off comparing these two performances alone, it’s safe to assume that Allen will be the odd-man out at quarterback, and this seems like it would be the best decision for the Rams.

Allen has certainly received plenty of opportunities to prove himself worthy of a roster spot, but in the long run, Wolford seems to have the most potential in regards to Goff’s backup.
