LA Rams 2020 NFL Draft harvests talented treasure trove – Mock Draft 6.0
By Bret Stuter
Round 4 Pick 126
The LA Rams need a durable runner with power and AJ Dillon out of Boston College fills the order. The Rams have a strong need for a durable feature running back, but also are in the market for a fullback to lead block for the speedy but diminutively-built Darrell Henderson. In Dillon, the Rams may be able to fill both needs with one player.

AJ Dillon is not the type of running back all 32 NFL teams can use effectively. He is a big running back, with the type of power and constantly moving strides which chalk up the yards and wear down defenses. He is a patient runner who can allow blocks to develop in front of him, as he does here on a nice run to the left for a first down.
At 6-foot-0 and 247-pounds, he is not blessed with blinding speed, as proven by his 40-yard time at 4.53 seconds. But he is fast enough to make his strength count in a big way. He is not a runner for all teams, but he is an ideal runner for the LA Rams. He can run between the tackles, but he is equally gifted at popping to the outside, rather unusual for such a big ball carrier. In three years for Boston College, he rushed for 4,382 yards and scored 38 touchdowns.
He has not developed pass reception skills in college but did catch 21 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns, so the potential is there. And he will join the Rams running back committee made up of Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown, who can share the number of carries. If he slows down in the future, or if the Rams discover unexpected running back talent, he could withdraw to a more traditional fullback role.
