LA Rams 2020 NFL Draft fill all needs – Mock Draft 7.0

So far the LA Rams have addressed roster needs singularly. But the team needs a power back/fullback for the 2020 NFL Season. Thankfully, Boston College’s power back AJ Dillon is on the board when the LA Rams select at pick 146.  Dillon is the type of rusher the Rams desperately need. Not only is he a solid rusher on his own, but adding him to the backfield improves the production of Zack Moss, Darell Henderson, and Malcolm Brown.

AJ Dillon is a power back. at 6-foot-0 and 247 pounds, he is a tremendously powerful runner. That size may not be ideal for some teams, but he is the ideal complement to the Rams rushers. He has enough speed to put up over 1000 yards rushing on his own, and he may do that for the LA Rams in his career. But he is a punishing lead blocker, who becomes even more valuable to the Rams where paired up in the same backfield with either Malcolm Brown, Darrell Henderson, or Zack Moss.

He moves piles. He sniffs the endzone in short-yardage situations. He shows incredible patience and gets the most out of his blockers. He doesn’t bail on a play. Rather than run back and outside, he will stick to the play and be happy to gain a little than risk losing a lot.  In passing downs in his rookie season, he will likely be tasked as a blocker. But as he gains confidence, he will be a devastating receiving weapon as well.

Dillon offers that fullback power the Rams desperately need on this offense.  And he brings much much more which can be maximized by the coaching staff on the team. Dillon will not be an immediate starter for the LA Rams, but he’ll get enough playing time to flash brilliance. And the team will find more and more ways to harness his raw power.
