The LA Rams QB depth chart might possibly look very similar to this, let’s take a look

The LA Rams are in better shape than many teams at the quarterback position. Jared Goff has been the starter for the last 54 games. You can pencil him into the starting lineup again in 2020.

Suppose the unthinkable happens and Goff misses games due to injury, who will run the offense. Backup QB John Wolford has only played in NFL preseason games. Meanwhile, rookie quarterbacks Bryce Perkins and Josh Love have just completed their college careers.

Last season, the Rams had veteran QB Blake Bortles as the backup quarterback to Goff. Wolford was on the practice squad. Bortles is still an unsigned free agent.

Currently, there is a very competitive three-way race for the backup job. Each quarterback has their own special skills and potential. This depth chart will take those into consideration.

The biggest key in really determining the depth chart will be when everyone sees the new Rams offense. Kevin O’Connell knows which direction and player prototype fits his offense. After viewing college highlights, here’s a projected Rams QB depth chart for the 2020 season.

2020 LA Rams QB Depth Chart for early May

Starter, Goff is the by far the best player of the four. He has the strongest arm and has matured with the offensive line. Goff has built a rapport with the receiving corps.

Backup QB, Perkins is the most athletic of the three remaining players. After watching his game footage against Florida, he can make plays with his arm and feet. Perkins will have to improve with his ball placement.

Practice squad, Wolford was on the Rams roster last season. He is familiar with the Rams offense but seems to be an average quarterback. His arm strength is in question in reference to deep out routes or deep passes.

On the bubble, Love will be battling for the slot on the practice squad. He played on a bad college team but did not put the team on his back to carry them to victory. Tough player but nothing outstanding seems to surface.

Of course, the depth chart is subject to change at any time due to player movement within the league. Injuries are just one play away from happening. Watch and see what happens as the marches on.
