Despite losing record predictions, LA Rams boast 5 prime-time games
By Bret Stuter
To play on prime time, NFL teams must win their games
So now it comes down to competitiveness. And that is something the television networks loathe being wrong about. That is why they seldom loaded up on the Cleveland Browns after winning another NFL Draft. And that is why, despite losing quarterback Tom Brady, they have not abandoned the New England Patriots.

Viewers tune in to closely contested games. As soon as one NFL team scores more than 20 points more than the opponent, fans change channels or, worse yet, abandon the televised contests altogether. So money talks and television programmers have become savants when it comes to following and attracting that money.
It makes logical sense. Finances is an objective measuring stick, and finances drive which teams get television time in the high-rent district of primetime broadcasting. That is the NFL’s wheelhouse, where the advertising dollars come at an expensive rate. Network executives survive by knowing their market, but also by knowing their product.
And their money is on the LA Rams in 2020, as proven by their choice of having the Rams on prime-time more than any other team.. That makes perfect sense, as the Rams will be far more competitive than early predictions believe.
