LA Rams News: 2020 Rams Schedule 3 potential trap games
By Bret Stuter
Week 15: Hosting New York Jets, Saturday, Dec. 19, or Sunday, Dec. 20, time and broadcast TBD
By week 15 of the 2020 NFL Season, we can only hope that the LA Rams are in the thick of the hunt for a top-seed in the upcoming 2020 NFL Playoffs. But a game this late in the season can take on its own dynamics. If the Rams’ future in post-season is decided, and the Jets are still in the hunt, this game could end up with the Rams on the short end of the final score.

The one positive is that, due to a Thursday night game against the New England Patriots the previous week, the Rams will have plenty of time to fully prepare and rest up to face the Jets. While some believe that New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is prepared to have a breakout season, I remain skeptical.
That is not to say this game is a sure thing for the Rams, however. The Jets did reinforce the offensive line in the 2020 NFL Draft by selecting OT Mekhi Becton and OT Cameron Clark. The Jets also added WR Denzel Mims and RB Lemichal Perine. And those players, if they play consistently at their potential, can be problematic for NFL opponents. The Jets have historically been a difficult defense to score against. And this game is the last non-NFC West opponent on the schedule.
The Rams face a road game against the rival Seattle Seahawks, and finishing up the season at home against what may prove to be a significantly improved Arizona Cardinals team. Once more, division rivals around the bend could allow the team to look ahead and lose sight of this game.
How good will the Jets be for this game? If they enter this one with a better record, the trap game will likely be theirs and not the Rams. But from this early vantage point, the Rams appear to enter this week with a better record and with playoff implications on the line.
Trap games are games where a favored team risks losing due to facing significant opponents the following week. If the Rams stay healthy in 2020, hopefully, head coach Sean McVay can maintain the team’s focus and defeat teams who might benefit from catching the Rams at an emotional lull.
