Time to sign a sack master

There is still an unsigned free agent on the market who would make the Rams defense more elite. Currently, DE Jadeveon Clowney is available.  Bringing him to the Rams defense would add that much more value.  Not only would he add to the Rams pass rush personally, but he would complicate the opposing offenses with one more player likely to be double-teamed.. Can you imagine how many more sacks the defense would get with Clowney?

More from Ramblin' Fan

Clowney was selected by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft as the first overall pick. He played five seasons in Houston but missed most of his rookie season due to injury. Clowney collected 29 sacks in the Texans uniform over the remainder of his career there. But his impact was not just his own contribution, but how he forced offenses to block him and free up his teammate J.J. Watt.

Last season, he made three sacks for Seattle after being traded there in September. That was also the last season was the final year on his rookie contract. His presence for the Seahawks was most obvious when the Seahawks traveled to face the Philadelphia Eagles. While his performance was a clinic on how to disrupt the office, the take-away from that game was the image of Clowney spearing the back of Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz, forcing the Eagles to play 40-year-old backup, Josh McCown.   Clowney would be an excellent addition to the Rams roster.
