Prediction V

The Rams will sign up to three offensive linemen after the 2021 NFL Draft. No matter what else the Rams face, their offensive line will be in very bad shape in 2022 without immediate reinforcements. The Rams waived center Nate Trewyn and Jeremiah Kolone in 2020 and then waived undrafted center, Cohl Cabral, in mid-season.

Even now, that strategy seems to have lingering questions. But what it certainly has done is force the LA Rams to hit the restart button on developing a new round of offensive linemen for the future. You see, right now the LA Rams are scheduled to part ways with C Brian Allen, C Coleman Shelton, G Austin Corbett, T Chandler Brewer, and T Joseph Noteboom.  Five offensive linemen projected to test the free agency market in less than 12 months.

More. As LA Rams celebrate Matthew Stafford, Jared Goff and Carson Wentz must reboot careers. light

The team will need new faces on the roster and quickly. Even if the Rams can somehow absorb the attrition with existing players on the roster, there will be a huge void in the roster for serviceable backups. That just won’t do.

And this is a good year to be signing up offensive linemen in bulk after the draft. The disparity of playing time during the 2020 NCAA football season, and the imperfect and incomplete nature of the draft database on rookie prospects in very pronounced this year.  With careful planning, the LA Rams will have every opportunity to land a potential 2021 starter, or at least a very serviceable backup or two, from players still available after this draft ends.
