Instant contender

Reason II: Jones wants to play for a contender. News flash: The Falcons are not serious contenders. That team is in rebuild mode. And Jones wants a ring. He will never even sniff a ring if he sticks with that moribund franchise in Atlanta. The Rams can deliver on that count.

If Matthew Stafford is “The guy”, then he deserves a wide receiver who is “The Guy” as well. The value of one amplifies the value of the other. This is not some pipe dream. The value of Matthew Stafford under center is only as good as the receivers who catch the ball for him.  Yes, the LA Rams receivers are good. But Julio Jones is on an entirely different level.

There is no mistake about it. The LA Rams head coach Sean McVay wants to transform his surprisingly pedestrian offense into a dangerous explosive scoring machine. Stafford can help to get the team there. Julio Jones puts the Rams over the top. After all, to win the Super Bowl, a team is either All-In or not, there is no gray area.

From the moment that the Rams traded a ton of picks for Stafford, they announced to the NFL that this time is All-In.  The time for playing it safe is already far back in the rearview mirror.  The team’s own head coach, not I, determined what this off-season focus would be all about. He wants the offense to be dangerous and explosive. Well, Julio Jones is TNT with shoulder pads and a helmet. If you want to want to become dangerous on offense, he is the master cheat code.
