3 huge challenges facing the LA Rams from the 2021 NFL Schedule
By Bret Stuter
Now that the LA Rams 2021 schedule has been released, there is the trepidation that comes with uncertainty. Unknows bring opportunity for good things and opportunity for bad things. You see, the LA Rams made it to the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs with quarterback Jared Goff under center and with only one half of a season from outstanding venerable offensive left tackle Andrew Whitworth.
Goff plus three incredibly valuable draft picks were packaged to obtain quarterback, Matthew Stafford. By definition, he will be expected to deliver on a season of Goff plus three incredibly valuable draft picks over the course of the 17 game season in 2021.
It’s a season bound to high expectations. The LA Rams felt that they were close enough to an NFL Championship roster to make another high-stakes move. In the end, the Rams will be assuredly working a new offensive center and quarterback tandem this year, surrounded by nine familiar faces from 2020. The defense will welcome four new starters to the core that was the best defense in the NFL last year. That defense already faces a tougher challenge in 2021.
Some fear what the defense will look like without Brandon Staley at the helm. A bigger impact to the defense’s performance if working opposite the LA Rams’ new quick-strike highly-explosive offensive philosophy. You see, it’s easier to dominate on defense when the offense is on the football field longer than the opponent.
It won’t be easy for the Rams, as they face one of the more difficult schedules in the NFL. Just one more way of churning the standings, The Rams, as the second-place finisher in the NFC West, will face other second-place finishers this year. By contrast, the San Francisco 49ers ended up in the last place in the NFC West in 2020, will only need to face other last-place finishers in 2021 in addition to the NFC West, AFC South, and NFC North opponents.
That gives the 49ers a good chance of a better place in the standings, while the Rams face more difficult challenges. Yes, the Rams will face some challenges this year. Like what? Here are three difficult scheduling hurdles that the LA Rams must overcome.
