Kupp beats defensive coverages

When it comes to the type of season that wide receiver Cooper Kupp is having, let’s be a little more discerning.  Defenses know that the Rams will throw the ball to Kupp. LA Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has thrown the football 569 times this season. 184 of those passes, or nearly one in three, is heading Cooper Kupp’s way.

NFL defensive coordinators are not stupid. Nor are they submissive. You can bet that their game plan routinely pits multiple defensive backs on covering Cooper Kupp each game. And yet, the proof is in the pudding.

Look at what Cooper Kupp has done so far

Just check out Kupp’s performance so far this season. While Rodgers is buried in the pack of NFL quarterbacks, Cooper Kupp is well ahead of the pack. In fact, he is so far ahead that he could sit in Week 18 and still end up the 2021 NFL season as the best receiver on record. Just look at this bit of information:

Now keep in mind that Kupp did not play all 16 games in their entirety. In two games, the Rams lead was so great that all the starters sat in the fourth quarter of two separate games.  Kupp’s production is the result of working hard in 15.5 games so far this season. But what if he sat in Week 18? Would he still appear to be so dominant among his peers?
