The NFL offseason has already been busy, and free agency hasn’t even started yet. The Los Angeles Rams have been apart of the busyness, trading for veteran corner Trent McDuffie, but they aren’t satisfied. With several other big names possibly on the move this offseason, the Rams are staying involved and exploring all opportunities.
NFL insider Dianna Russini recently shared that Los Angeles discussed trading for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown.
According to Russini, the team has moved on, but the fact that the franchise even had the discussion is noteworthy. It reveals that although L.A. already has two really good receivers, it would like to add another. That mindset could be a sign of what’s to come in the first round of the 2026 Draft.

Despite a wide receiver room already boasting with talent, general manager Les Snead continues to exhaust all options that could upgrade the offense.
Rams could target receiver in 2026 Draft after reportedly discussing AJ Brown trade
Los Angeles already has Puka Nacua, arguably the best receiver in the NFL after posting 129 receptions for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 games, and Davante Adams, a six-time Pro Bowler who led the league with 14 touchdowns in 2025. Despite having that elite duo already, the Rams discussed giving up assets to acquire another elite wideout in AJ Brown.
That means the franchise may not even think twice about using its first-round pick on a wide receiver. Los Angeles started the offseason with two first-round picks, and everyone assumed at least one of those picks would be used to improve the secondary. That ended up being true, as the Rams traded the later first-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for McDuffie.
Now, L.A. has just one first-round pick in 2026, no. 13, and the team already has an elite corner on the roster. The Rams could still go in several different directions, and that includes taking an exciting receiver prospect like Makai Lemon. While that would be an example of the rich getting richer, it seems like that’s exactly what Los Angeles wants to do.
With the 13th-overall pick, the Rams are in position to likely land one of the top three receiving prospects. Depending on how things shake out on draft night, they could have their pick of all three top prospects: Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson, and Makai Lemon. They would all be exciting additions to the Rams offense.
