This could go very well, or very poorly.

Is this their true direction?

On the other hand, could the Rams have fallen in love with Ole Miss rookie quarterback prospect Jaxson Dart? Hey, stranger things have happened. And if we step back and approach the 2025 NFL Draft from the 10,000 foot height, the opportunity to add a rookie quarterback who many see as the third-best rookie in this draft class cannot be shrugged off as 'no way.' The Rams know that they need to add a talented rookie in either 2025 or 2026. Is this simply the matter of 'As Good As It Gets?'

We took a mini dive into the likelihood of the Rams selecting three of the top five quarterbacks who could be on the draft board when the Rams make their selection at the 26th overall pick. In many ways, the feeling of Jaxson Dart still being on the draft board feels very similar to the expectation that Florida State outside linebacker Jared Verse would fall from his projected Top 10 selection to the Rams at 19.

We all know what happened.

Are we simply so resistant to being disappointed at Jaxson Dart not being on the board at the 26th overall pick that we fans are trying to talk ourselves out of selecting him to minimize the disappointment that awaits us if he is not on the board?

If rookie grades are consistent over time, then Jaxson Dart is a gifted quarterback. He is the draft profile grade of Tampa Bay Buccaneers backup quarterback Kyle Trask. But he will sit behind Rams veterans Matthew Stafford and Jimmy Garoppolo, and will be coached up by Rams QB coach Dave Ragone. Ragone has a solid track record of developing quarterbacks.

ESPN's draft guru Mel Kiper is on-board. He mocked Jaxson Dart to the Rams at 26, and loves the fit. In true Mel Kiper fashion, his justification supporting the Rams selection of Dart is almost poetic, and leaves the reader feeling a bit foolish in doubting that the Rams will make that pick.

In many discussions, the argument against picking dart lies in the alternative players who may be on the board, or denying the logic of picking a quarterback in Round 1 to a team that is competing to win Super Bowl LX. But the right question to ask is which rookie quarterback prospect will be within the Rams' reach in the next two draft who are better? In that context, Dart jumps off the page as one of the best rookie quarterback available.

To be or not to be in the market for QB Jaxon Dart at the 26th overall pick, that is the question. If he is off the board sooner, so be it. But if he is there, Rams GM Les Snead has a difficult decision to make. And no matter what he decides, the implications of that choice could linger for years to come.

As always, thanks for reading.
