The Los Angeles Rams have struck a deal with the Cleveland Browns to acquire two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, and they might have another two-time DPOY on his heels.
The Rams were already Super Bowl contenders before trading for Myles Garrett, but that trade solidified them as probably having the best roster in the entire NFL. And with Garrett in the fold, it might be enough to get franchise legend Aaron Donald out of retirement to come back for one last ride.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter is fueling that particular fire with a post on his Twitter/X that simply says, "Next in line in LA" with a graphic of Garrett and Donald in Rams uniforms (post below). If there was ever a time that Donald's return made sense, it would be right now.
Adam Schefter's latest tease would send Los Angeles Rams fans into an absolute frenzy
The last time Donald took the field for the Rams was during the 2023 season, where he racked up 8 sacks and 23 QB hits in 16 games. And to say that Donald looks like he could still go out there and get after the quarterback on an NFL field would be an understatement.
The next great DL on the Rams 🥶

Imagine if Aaron Donald came out of retirement 😮 (via @AdamSchefter, @RapSheet, @TomPelissero) pic.twitter.com/qiun6omfvJ
Donald just turned 35 years old in May, and would be able to come back on whatever terms he would dictate as the Rams are clearly all-in on the next couple of years.
It's already been an awesome offseason for the Rams overall with Matthew Stafford getting a raise, Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson being added to the secondary, and the team setting up for the future at quarterback with the Ty Simpson pick. Even if that pick wasn't the most popular move, the Rams have more than made up for it now by trading for Garrett.
Over the last 10-plus years, are there two better defensive players than Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald? To have them on the same roster, even in their mid-30s, would be a bizarre sight for the rest of the NFL to behold.
And you have to think it's at least possible.
Donald has only been out of the game for two seasons. He's stayed in shape. He could probably roll out of bed and get pressure on the quarterback anyway. But the thought of lining up alongside Myles Garrett and chasing another Super Bowl title? That's an opportunity that doesn't come around very often.
Maybe Schefter was just in the moment like the rest of us, or maybe they've got that graphic handy over at ESPN for a reason. The idea of Aaron Donald coming out of retirement to play for the Rams again has never felt more within reach.
