Bills expert sounds the Klaxon about potential peril of Week 5 matchup v Rams

LA hosts Buffalo in Week 5 on Monday Night Football. But one Bills expert is not the least bit happy about it.

With the official release of the 2026 NFL schedule, the Los Angeles Rams are not the only NFL fans who face pleasant and horrifying setups for the new season. As we begin to dissect and analyze opponents' order and timing, fans will be relieved to know that all NFL fans are struggling with the same predicament.

One formidable opponent, the Buffalo Bills, must travel to face Los Angeles on Week 5 on Monday Night Football. That is just one of seven anticipated prime-time games on LA's schedule this year. While the Horns host the ever-dangerous Bills, Buffalo must return to face the Las Vegas Raiders the following week. That's something that Bills site-expert Brandon Roy is already sounding the Klaxon over:

"A major disadvantage the Bills have is from Week 5 to Week 6. They will be playing on Monday Night Football in Week 5 against the Rams, and then they are going to be in Las Vegas just six days later to take on the Raiders. Buffalo will have to decide if they will stay out on the West Coast for the whole week and be away from familiarity, or fly back out to Buffalo and fly out to Vegas just a few days later." - per Brandon Roy, BuffaLowDown site-expert

He raises a solid point. Would it make more sense on a short week for the Bills to simply plan to remain on the West Coast to prepare to face the Raiders in Week 6? Hmmm.

Rams are not the only NFL team struggling with schedule quirks

While the LA Rams face a very difficult schedule, it could have been set up to be much, much worse. Los Angeles faces cold-weather teams in milder months of the year, and despite difficult traveling, will enjoy multiple mini-byes throughout the season.

Of course, this team still must defeat an onslaught of formidable opponents this year. And it must travel an incredible number of miles to do so. But that was a given before the schedule was officially released.

As the image of LA's 2026 schedule comes into focus, so too do the scheduling challenges of 31 other NFL teams. And those teams face scheduling nightmares of their own.

Nobody is suggesting LA fans should celebrate the struggles and misfortunes of other teams. But the truth is that no team gets a pass from the discomfort of facing tough competition at uncomfortable times. The adage still holds: Misery loves company.

As always, thanks for reading.
