Davante Adams's latest injury imperils his ability to face Cardinals in Week 14

It's almost impossible to imagine just how important veteran wide receiver Davante Adams has become in this Los Angeles Rams offense. After the team willingly parted ways with wide receivers Cooper Kupp, Demarcus Robinson, and Tyler Johnson, there was a huge void in scoring. After all, the trio had combined for 14 touchdowns last season.

Adams has tied their combined touchdown total in Week 13.

Fans were shocked when Adams showed up injured and not practising for Week 14. It appears that he is fighting through a hamstring injury, the bane of NFL receivers and defensive backs, and is questionable to play in Week 14.

That's not good news for a team seeking to rebound after a loss, especially now that LA must win at least three of the remaining five games to have a shot at competing in the NFL playoffs.

The latest news sounds promising, given the circumstances, but the circumstances are lousy. Adams is limited, but back at practice. Hopefully, he will play this week, as he is nearly half the team's total receiving touchdown totals.

Davante Adams is delivering beyond expectations this year

Adams was a superb free-agent signing, a player whose durability and productivity on the football field were unmatched. Now in his 12th season, Adams has put up 1,000+ receiving yards six times. While he may not reach that plateau this year, he has already scored with mind-blowing frequency.

He is just four touchdowns from his career high. But he is conceivably within reach of much more. He is just nine touchdowns away from tying former NFL wide receiver Randy Moss for 23 touchdown receptions, the NFL All-Time Single-Season Record.

And this is only his first year in LA's offense.

He is not someone this offense can afford to do without right now.

He is the perfect complement to wide receiver Puka Nacua, who already has more than 1000 receiving yards. Adams has 689 receiving yards, despite playing a full two games more. But Adams has 14 touchdowns to Nacua's four touchdowns.

Even now, Adams appears to be trending to playing against the Arizona Cardinals, but it's something that bears monitoring. So stay tuned.

And as always, thanks for reading.
