Perhaps the greatest reward for a veteran who has reached the apex of his NFL career is to mentor a young, inexperienced player to realize his full potential.

For Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams, he found much of himself in the form of Pittsburgh Panthers rookie wide receiver Konata Mumpfield, who was selected in Round 7 of last April's draft.

The rookie receiver is not particularly big for his position, standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 186 pounds. But he instantly caught Adams' attention, as he reminded the seasoned veteran of himself when he was just starting in the NFL. Mumpfield just scored his first NFL touchdown and did so in Wembley Stadium when the Rams beat the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Adams is competing in his 12th season and his first for Los Angeles. Arguably boasting a Hall of Fame career, he joined the Horns to team up with quarterback Matthew Stafford and head coach Sean McVay in an attempt not only to be the best version of himself, but to also win a Super Bowl along the way.

Maybe to mentor someone, too.

Davante Adams sees a young version of himself in Konata Mumpfield

Adams brings an entirely new skill set to the team, as he is a grand master of getting open. But he instantly recognized something special in Mumpfield.

It's hard to miss. Mumpfield was a football star on a so-so Panthers offense in college. He just needed to find the right offense to show up in the spotlight. Instead, the right offense found him.

Thanks to a discerning eye from general manager Les Snead, the duo seems to get along like brothers. And like an older brother, Adams takes familial pride in Mumpfield's progress in his rookie season:

"Konata Mumpfield is ahead of where I was my rookie year as far as being comfortable in the league. He is crazy coachable, and he has got all of the ability in the world. So as far as whenever I am done in there, he will go and step up, and he will be catching a lot more touchdowns than he did today."

That's a lot of praise for a young man who just caught his first NFL pass. Still, the rookie is doing what many believed he would.

And with the amount of believers in his corner, he can't fail.

As always, thanks for reading.
