Former foe captured Myles Garrett's greatness with wildest superlative yet

It's always a great indicator of a player's impact when an opponent goes above and beyond to show him respect. If any Los Angeles Rams fans out there have any buyer's remorse about trading for defensive end Myles Garrett, Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton's latest comments should put those troubled minds at ease.

Hamilton, after all, should know. He watched from the sidelines as Garrett terrorized the Ravens' offense twice a year in divisional games against Cleveland. The three-time All-Pro paid his former NFC North adversary the most outlandish of compliments when asked for his thoughts on Garrett's place in the NFL's upcoming top 100 rankings.

"If an alien came to earth and was like, 'Let me see your best human,' Myles Garrett is who we're putting up there. Peak human physique, that's what it is. Just [the] athleticism. ... So, yeah, if the aliens pull up, trade them Myles Garrett for our safety. "

That's not just headline fodder. That's simply an indicator of the awe - yes, sheer awe - NFL peers have for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. While Garrett has yet to suit up for LA's defense, he's already generating otherworldly intrigue.

Myles Garrett just supercharged Rams defense

It's not difficult to be swept up in the excitement. Garrett is a superstar of the highest degree, and it's clear that his aura is as well-known among players as it is among fans. His dominating presence on the line of scrimmage is impossible to ignore from the first snap until the final whistle.

Even with the season still months away, offensive coordinators are already scheming to neutralize Garrett's impact. Much as Rams legend Aaron Donald did, Garrett forces offenses to aim multiple blockers at one player. It takes a lot of brainpower and long nights at the office to conjure up a way to stop him.

Ignoring Garrett on passing downs would be foolish of Rams opponents. Obviously. But overcommitting the blocking scheme in his direction could be just as disastrous. Aside from Garrett, the defensive line is still loaded with difference-makers. Kobie Turner, Byron Young, Josaiah Stewart, and Braden Fiske can all reliably pressure the quarterback if left to one blocker.

Garrett has already indicated that he is excited about competing on a perennial contender, a reality he helped further by agreeing to rework his contract to preserve cap space. The most intriguing aspect of his arrival is not whether it will work out for the Rams (um, duh), but rather just how high his ceiling can be with his new team. He just set the single-season record for sacks, and breaking it isn't out of the question.

Rams fans will hope the alien invasion doesn't take place anytime soon.

As always, thanks for reading.
