Throughout the offseason, whether through difficult contract negotiations or absence from training camp practices, the Los Angeles Rams never faltered in their belief that Matthew Stafford was the right guy to lead this offense in 2025. The truth is that even after missing most of training camp, he's stepped in and taken over right where he left off.
His connection with wide receiver Puka Nacua is as strong as ever. He has yet to find the chemistry with newly signed wide receiver Davante Adams, but the team is certainly getting good mileage, albeit light work, from the rest of the receivers. Almost all of that is because of Stafford's ability to throw such a catchable football.
When it comes to quarterback rankings, NFL Spin Zones, Sayre Beddinger continues to hold the 37-year-old in high regard, keeping him firmly entrenched among the NFL's top 10 quarterbacks. Despite the challenges of completing passes to Adams, he's still completing over 66 percent of his throws.
Matthew Stafford appears to have found the fountain of youth in Rams offense
While the 17-year vet has seen it all, it hasn't always shown up on the football field. In fact, he has to be feeling the wear and tear of repeatedly rough handling at the hands of some of the most formidable pass rushers. And yet, he seems to be back and better than ever, even as age creeps in.
If he continues at his current pace, Stafford is on track for another 4,100-plus passing yards season. If he accomplishes that, it will be his tenth time doing so, the first since 2021. No big deal... it was only the season that he led LA to a Super Bowl LVI victory. The best part is that the offensive firepower could allow him to do so much more.
As soon as the offense unleashes a more balanced workload among lesser-used players, and the chemistry with Adams translates into more completions, the sky is the limit. The Rams showed a solid and balanced rushing attack in Week 3, which is even more evidence that they can keep their quarterback chugging along this season.
And so it goes. If the offensive line heals up and plays well, this could be an incredible season. As always, thanks for reading.
