The Los Angeles Rams still have a ways to go before the 2024 NFL Trade Deadline, but can we tell if they will buy or sell? LA will play the following contests before the trade deadline, which is November 5th, 2024:

  • @ Chicago Bears
  • Green Bay Packers
  • BYE WEEK
  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • Minnesota Vikings
  • @ Seattle Seahawks

The Rams sit at 1-2, and if you had to ask me where I think the team would be at the deadline, I'd probably say no worse than 4-4. I see three winnable games here against the Bears, Raiders, and one of the Packers or Seahawks. That Vikings game truly scares me.

Anyway, even if the Rams were to be 3-5 at the deadline, not all hope is lost. Rams General Manager Les Snead clearly wanted to go all-in this offseason. His 2023 rookie class quickly proved to be excellent, which helped the Rams go 10-7 in 2023 and clinch a Wild Card spot.

Promise is already oozing from this 2024 rookie class, and Snead was also able to bring in some quality, veteran players in free agency, but he's had some misses. He signed CB Tre White in free agency, but he's been unplayable at this point.

To me, the Rams are simply too good to be sellers at the deadline; I reckon that this team is going to get healthier as the season goes on, and if they can just tread around .500 until the deadline, that could give them every reason to make a few moves. To me, they'd be wise to target a cornerback and an inside linebacker.

With Tre White being flat-out awful this year and Darious Williams hurt, another CB is necessary, and them practically giving away Ernest Jones IV to the Tennessee Titans has left a huge hole in the middle of their defense. This team is clearly more stable on offense, and when both Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua return to the lineup, that unit will be humming, believe me.

I could see the Rams and GM Les Snead being aggressive but smart at the 2024 NFL Trade Deadline to perhaps add at least one starting-caliber player on defense. With how young some of the Rams' foundational pieces are and with how old Matthew Stafford is getting, there really isn't much reason to not add.

If they envision only having Stafford around for another year or two, Snead should continue this all-in push, and the next time he can do that is at the 2024 trade deadline, where the Rams should be heavy buyers.
