It's finally October 2024, and the LA Rams finally play host to the Green Bay Packers. Not only have the Rams had to travel to the frozen tundra of Lombardi Field, but the team has gone winless in each of those past four excursions. Now, with homefield advantage, the game is taking on a bit of a pre-playoffs aura.

When the 2024 season schedule was set, I suppose nobody expected the Packers (2-2) and the Rams (1-2) to struggle at this point in the season. But as we noted, both teams are struggling under the weight of early-season injuries. And it only goes to prove that it's the healthiest team that often competes in the postseason.

Both the Packers and the Rams desperately need a victory in Week 5 to make that happen. The Rams, already 1-3, and 0-2 to NFC North teams, simply cannot afford to lose any more games this early in the season. A win would set the team up at 2-3 before their Week 6 BYE, and that could mark the turning point of the Rams season.

But the Packers are not in much better shape at 2-2. They are 0-2 in the NFC, which means a loss to the Rams would become quite a pickle if and when tiebreakers are factored into the picture for NFL Playoff berths.
