Potential Rams free agent target just provided major reason to steer clear

With training camp just around the corner, many suspect that Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead will finally act to round out the 90-man roster. And he may do exactly that. But if he does, the team may be pivoting away from a free-agent wide receiver who has been linked to LA multiple times.

The debate over whether or not the offense needs one more playmaker has continued for months. One free agent whose name continues to surface as a potential Rams target is former Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill. Some have argued that Hill is merely another failed Atwell experiment waiting to happen.

Now, even the player himself is waving off potential suitors. Per NFL insider Adam Schefter, Hill has openly admitted to residual symptoms from a Week 4 injury suffered in 2025. With camp about to begin, the Rams can't afford to sign a player who may not be able to compete.

Rams may not rent receiver help this season

Snead may not be truly interested in renting veteran receiver help for one season. And with the team facing a huge number of extensions at season's end, there may not be enough money to do more than a one-year deal.

Even if the money were already in place, Hill may not be the player (play at the position) that Snead is eager to sign. After a jaw-dropping 2023 season, Hill has struggled with injuries since. It's unfortunate, but his delayed recovery all but eliminates him as an option for the Rams.

The consensus was that they needed to secure a wideout early in the draft. Instead, they traded up to select CJ Daniels in Round 6. He joins ex-Ohio State tight end Max Klare as rookie Rams pass-catchers.

While analysts and fans have no reason to be enamored with either, the coaches and personnel executives who targeted them clearly saw value in both.

A team trying to fast-track rookie development alongside a veteran corps has little incentive to incur speed bumps to hinder that growth. For now, LA may be out of the receiver market. In any case, Snead is almost certainly out of the Tyreek Hill market, if he was ever interested in the first place.
